Heisey Highlights

  • Heisey has invited and featured 59 different soloists, 19 different narrators, 31 vocalists, and 5 choirs.
  • As of February 2025, Heisey has performed 163 concerts and 1,561 selections of music.
  • Of the 25 members who played the first concert 40 years ago, 7 are current members.
  • Of our 412 individual members over 40 years, 136 taught music at one time in their careers.
  • Heisey is supported by 250 patrons who generously donate because they believe their community is enriched by music and the arts.

In 1985, the Heisey Wind Ensemble was brought to life by band directors J M Day and Don Workman, both driven by a shared vision of quality music and community excellence. Today, under the esteemed direction of Dr. Russel Mikkelson, they continue to delight audiences with exceptional performances, both in scale and artistry. The Heisey Wind Ensemble invites you to explore their rich musical history and enjoy their outstanding concerts.

The members of the Heisey Wind Ensemble make the group possible. They volunteer their time to prepare for engaging, high quality concerts. We are proud to have a supportive environment where members choose to stay for many years – some even since the inception of the Ensemble in 1985!
